Kelly, here's an idea for a tech wizard realtor, something that would really set your sales apart, and would only cost $500 per house to implement (for the server hardware).

In every home you list, set up a very basic Linux web server with a wireless router. Configure the server with a local disk web page that has every possible view of the for-sale home, along with videos, etc, about the home. Basically, a web page with as much sales information as possible. For safety, the server isn't connected to the internet or anything else.

Then on the sign, tell the driver how to access the wireless network from their laptop, and what home page to navigate to (or application to launch to see the videos). Bingo, you now have your own local electronic sales web.

The cool thing is, you bug the hardware for a few hundred dollars, set up a standard configuration for the web site, then just change the content when you move the server to the next house.

It kind of sounds like a business opportunity, in fact...

Just saw you in Chicago-impressed by your use of technology in this business. Loved everything you do, and the sign is great! It's innovated people like you that will keep the real estate profession alive and healthy. Thank you

I'm really looking forward to the day when every home for sale broadcasts on wireless broadband. When you see a for sale sign, just fire up your G3 phone or mobile device and get a video tour. If you like the house, press a button on your phone and the owner gets an immediate alert and can walk out to chat with you, or the realtor drives over right then. I'll bet it'd generate sales.

What a great idea! I know I have always been frustrated when out looking at houses to buy and no flyer in the box. :)
