New For Sale Signs!

new signs

The picture is a little dark, and admittedly was taken from my camera phone, but you get the idea.  We have new signs!

The top part is the regular part – how could I leave behind the recognition that comes from having that yellow sign in the yard?  Long Realty has such a dominant market share, I couldn’t give up that part.

But – there’s more.  See that bottom sign?  It has pictures of the inside on it, as well as the address, the MLS number, contact information for the latest pricing info, and a description of the house.  I think it’s pretty cool, all in all.  I might tweak the design yet, resize some of the text, but isn’t this so much better than an empty flyer box sitting in front of your house, taunting potential buyers?

I think so.

What a great idea! I know I have always been frustrated when out looking at houses to buy and no flyer in the box. :)

I’m really looking forward to the day when every home for sale broadcasts on wireless broadband. When you see a for sale sign, just fire up your G3 phone or mobile device and get a video tour. If you like the house, press a button on your phone and the owner gets an immediate alert and can walk out to chat with you, or the realtor drives over right then. I’ll bet it’d generate sales.

That’s nice! I like it! If I want to remember the house I can just take a cell phone photo of the info. Very cool…..You’re a genius.

Very cool yard sign. I’m still tweaking mine too.

Just saw you in Chicago-impressed by your use of technology in this business. Loved everything you do, and the sign is great! It’s innovated people like you that will keep the real estate profession alive and healthy. Thank you

Kelly, here’s an idea for a tech wizard realtor, something that would really set your sales apart, and would only cost $500 per house to implement (for the server hardware).

In every home you list, set up a very basic Linux web server with a wireless router. Configure the server with a local disk web page that has every possible view of the for-sale home, along with videos, etc, about the home. Basically, a web page with as much sales information as possible. For safety, the server isn’t connected to the internet or anything else.

Then on the sign, tell the driver how to access the wireless network from their laptop, and what home page to navigate to (or application to launch to see the videos). Bingo, you now have your own local electronic sales web.

The cool thing is, you bug the hardware for a few hundred dollars, set up a standard configuration for the web site, then just change the content when you move the server to the next house.

It kind of sounds like a business opportunity, in fact…

Got something to say?

  • The Camera Phone House (October 20, 2008)

I showed a home the other day that has been on the market – continuously – for 899 days.  Which begs the question: why hasn’t this home sold?
    Two big reasons.
    1) It’s overpriced for the condition of the home.  It’s a partial remodel, with a bad paint job, missing baseboards, some original vinyl, with a brand [...]

  • Rainwater Harvesting and Cisterns in Tucson Homes (July 27, 2009)

    Speaking of rain…
I see more and more people using rainwater harvesting techniques in homes around Tucson.  Collecting rainwater can be a good way to store some water for our dry seasons to use on your landscaping, save a little bit on that water bill.
But be careful – I met a woman the other day [...]

I have clients right now that find themselves in a less than desirable situation – through entirely no fault of their own.  On our part, we’ve acted in good faith and honored the various obligations and promises made in the contract.
I won’t go into details here because everything is still pending, but I’ve been reviewing [...]
