This home has sold.Welcome to 13819 N Gecko Canyon Trail in Tucson, Arizona! MLS#21022436 3 bedrooms, 2 baths Nestled at the base of the Tortolita Mountains in Northwestern Tucson, this custom home has incredible views of both the mountains and the city. It was built with 8″ split face block, and has earth walls on the East and West sides to help with energy efficiency. The roof is concrete tiles and a built-up reflect portion, which was replaced in 2009 and carries a 5 year warranty from that time. Outside, there’s an extended flagstone patio that wraps around to a covered patio off of the kitchen area. Near the home has been nicely landscaped with low maintenance desert plants on an automated water system, and the rest of the parcel has been left natural desert, with plenty of saguaros. The covered patio sits on the Northeast side of the house, just off the kitchen. It flows nicely with the rest of the house, expanding your entertaining options and living space. Next to the house is a large ramada with a lit pad that could easily be a basketball court or other sport court. The ramada is built as solidly as the house, with concrete tile roof and block walls. It’s an amazing place to entertain or just to sit and watch the stars go by. Off the driveway is a 30′ RV pad with full hookup: water, septic access, and 30 amp electric service. With the RV pad plus a 2 car garage and circular gravel driveway, there’s plenty of room to park or store extra vehicles. On to the interior. As you enter the home, you’ll notice a couple of things. First, the light. There are many skylights throughout the house, including a large one right at the entrance to greet your guests. Second, there’s gorgeous wood ceilings that accent the rest of the woodwork in the house. And third, this isn’t a cookie-cutter boxy home. There are plenty of lights and angles and textures and details that all work really well together. The kitchen is off the entrance, with the dining room on one side and the large covered patio on the other. There’s an eat in breakfast area that has foot warmers built in for those chilly mornings. There’s also a large pantry and plenty of extra storage. The layout is very nice, with a ton of counter space around each major work area – those are concrete countertops, by the way. The appliances were all new in 2009, and there is great light in here from a large central skylight. I love the huge window over the sink, where you get a really spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. The dining room is across from the kitchen and has a wood-burning fireplace. I like the size of this room, and especially like the built in storage on either end of the dining room. The wood ceiling accents continue over from the kitchen into the dining room, and the travertine floors run though both areas. Down the hall is the living room, which is a good sized space. There are nice large windows on the South side that have incredible city views at night – the overhang on the South side of the house is extended to help keep the summer sun out. The room itself has wood beam ceilings and travertine floors, which work nicely together. There’s a corner cut holding a TV now, but could be converted back into a fireplace. Most of the house has travertine floors, and there’s carpet in the hall and in one bedroom. The carpet was newly installed in 2009, a 20 year Stainmaster carpet. This is a split bedroom plan, and the master is off one side of the living room. The master bedroom is large, and there’s enough wall space that you could configure this room in several different ways. I love the wall of floor to ceiling windows on one side and the french doors that separate this room from the rest of the house. Down a short hall is a large closet, the utility room, and a remodeled master bath. Both bathrooms were remodeled in 2009 with all new 20″ ceramic tile and new plumbing fixtures. The master bath has dual sinks and plenty of storage space. Off the tub, there’s additional storage shelves, not pictured here. There are two good sized additional bedrooms, both with ceiling fans. The Northern bedroom is currently used as an office and has a window that faces the kitchen patio and the mountains beyond. The other bedroom has those enormous windows and is flooded with light. This room is currently used as an artist’s studio, has a good sized closet, and travertine floors. The hall bath was remodeled in 2009 as well, with new plumbing and fixtures, new sink and tile, and has an electric wall heater in case your guests are chilly in the mornings. Other nice extras are the 2 car garage with extended workspace at the back. There’s lots of storage in this garage, or it could easily house a small workshop plus 2 cars. And don’t overlook the utility room. This is a HUGE laundry room with built in laundry sink. There’s even room for more storage in there. Recent work on the house in 2009 includes:
