Welcome to 6060 N Desert Foothills Drive in Tucson, Arizona!  This is a lender-owned home.  That means the bank has foreclosed on the property and is now trying to sell it.  It also means the bank wants to sell it as-is.  Don’t worry, they’ll still let you inspect the property to your heart’s content, just don’t expect them to do any repairs based on what you may find.

Let’s call it a moderate fix-up.  It’s dated inside.  It needs paint and flooring – although there are some hardwood floors in here now.  I’m guessing the roof needs some attention, but I’m no roofer.  It’s dirty inside.  The landscaping has all died.  It looks like the neglected house that it is. 

However – it’s got potential.  Forget what’s there, look at the space and see what could be.

This is a huge house and guest house.  In total, there are 5316 square feet.  I don’t have separate measurements for the house and guest house, but – ballpark – I’d say the house is in the 3500-3800 square foot range, with the remainder being the guest house.

Let’s start with the main house.  It’s 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths.  4 bedrooms and 2 baths are upstairs, including the master, and then there’s one other bedroom and bath downstairs.  As you walk in, there’s a big living room and formal dining room to one side, and then up a few stairs on the other side is the family room and den.  The family room has a big fireplace, and the den is enormous.  There’s also a 3 car garage.

The kitchen and breakfast nook are on the back side of the house, overlooking the patio and yard.  It’s an open plan, with an island, and with some sprucing could be a nice kitchen again.

Upstairs, there are 3 good sized bedrooms and the master bedroom, which has its own fireplace and private deck.  The master bath needs some renovation work – the shower has been ripped out, but there’s a huge soaking tub and a decent vanity in there now.

The guest house is 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths – there’s a powder room off the kitchen and dining area.  The guest house is a full house all on its own, with a full kitchen, laundry room, 2 bedrooms joined by a bathroom, and a living room with beehive fireplace.  There’s even a small deck off the upstairs landing.

Between the two homes is a covered patio, with lots of room to put a table and chairs.  There’s a smaller yard area between, with the pool above.

The house sits on 3.3 acres, at the end of a long driveway at the back of the property, and it ought to have decent sunset views.  It sits up higher than the surrounding land, so you get a nice vista towards the Tucson Mountains, especially from the master bedroom deck.  It is surrounded by other custom homes, some horse property, at the end of a dirt road on the West side of Tucson, near Ina and Silverbell. 

Homes in the area sell for $500,000 – $650,000 at the time of this writing, and this listing is priced to sell at $399,000.  It needs some remodeling and updating, yard work, possibly some roof repairs, and I believe there is polybutylene pipe in the house.  However, you don’t find this much house on this much land at that price in the area.  If you’ve got a little imagination and some elbow grease, and need a large property and home, this one is worth considering.
