Housing Bail Out Shot Down

September 29, 2008 | By Kelley Koehler | Filed Under Market Discussion

In case you weren’t glued to the various news sources, the housing "bail-out" bill was shot down by the House today.  Lots of finger-pointing, wild speculation, and general insanity afoot.

Arizona House Representative Raul Grijalva issued a statement on his no vote

I’ll update this post with links reactions and predictions, just as soon as some dust settles and I can find a few cohesive, well-argued stories.  Anyone else want to contribute an opinion or story of value, comments are open, below.

I can’t believe they shoot this down……Supposedly a ton of people about 100/1 were calling their congress person and telling them to say NO to the bailout. Um then the DOW dropped 777 and people start calling in saying YES support it. This is not a “bailout” and very few actually understand that this legislation is mandatory or else the economy is in serious trouble for the next 36 months. Anyway the House and Senate are supposed to get this down by the end of this week…….We will see what happens, at least I think the stock market showed signs of what will soon be coming if this legislation is not passed very soon.

Got something to say?

Interesting post from the Zillow blog that puts a little science behind what I’ve always told my sellers – home buyers make decisions based on emotion, usually within the very first few moments they’re in the house.
