La-La-La-Lasik

April 24, 2008 | By Kelley Koehler | Filed Under Odds and Ends

Forgive me if I am difficult to reach in the next day or two.  I’m having Lasik performed on Thursday, and am told I’ll be up and running again quickly, but I just want to warn you now that it might take a day to get to the pile of email I expect to accumulate.

I talked to a bunch of people before deciding to go through with the surgery.  It seems that nearly everyone has had Lasik or has a friend who has done it.  Mostly good stories, is what I hear.  I’m excited, I’m terrified – I’m getting lasered!  I’ll be back in a day or two with new eyes, WOOT WOOT!

I had mine done about 5 years ago.

The biggest problem is it takes a little longer to be able to see and LCD screen.
I was out of computing commission for about 4 days.

By the first day after the surguery I could see but focus was hard. By day 2 i was panicking that i couldn’t see the computer.

Took me until 4 days after surgery that I could see LCD screen.

But I would/will do it again if I need to

Loren – I heard from several people that their blurriness lasted for a couple days, but I’m pretty much back up and running the day after. I’m having to rest from staring at this screen every two hours or so, but overall, I’m pretty much back to normal.

So how did it go? Was it as frightening as you thought it might be? (It seems like all went well after reading your comment above)…

My uncle got it done just before tax season started; he was up and running in no time. Though with the long days and glaring at all that paperwork he’s had to stop and rest his eyes often (at least initially).

As for me, I’m not sure I could work up the courage to do it. :-/

Ricardo – it was certainly freaky, but not painful. They gave me a little squeeze stress ball thingy to hang onto. Honestly, a little uncomfortable, but not painful to have done. My husband watched the surgery and I think after *seeing* the proceedure, he’d not get it done! I hate to say it, but for me, a little ignorance was the key to just doing it.

Got something to say?
