Happy Birthday Tucson Eye on Central Tucson Real Estate - August 2007

my first scorpion in a house sometimes a part of tucson real estate

I’ve lived in Southern Arizona since 1981, and in Tucson since 1995.  Out of the thousands of homes I have ever entered, this is the first scorpion I have ever seen inside of a house.  I’ve seen two others, alive, in the wild: both outside at night on a patio.  Out in the desert, they say you can make the little translucent ones glow if you shine a black light around the yard at night, but I’ve never tried it.

This guy was a little surprise for my buyers during a final walkthrough.  Luckily, we found a bowl and some cardboard, so that brave Mr. Buyer could capture the little guy and release him back outside — and far from the house, at Mrs. Buyer’s instruction.

    Kelley,

I’ve lived in Gilbert, Arizona for 35 months and in that time frame I have killed 20+ scorpions IN my house. The latest one was killed last night. My wife took the honors!

Shailesh - the buyer I was with last night has lived in Arizona since 1984 and this was his first too! Are you in new construction or on a large desert lot?

    Kelley,

I’m in Sonoma Ranch in North Gilbert. Not really new construction. The homes here were built in the early 1990s. It’s a large desert lot I guess, I’m not sure how else to describe it.

It’s been quite an experience, especially with a toddler crawling around the house. I don’t think we’ll be in this house much longer, it’s kind of small and once the family grows we’ll be looking elsewhere. However, scorpions will be on my mind when I look at the next purchase.

    Thanks,
    Shailesh

After getting stung once (it was in my shoe), I have to say I hate these little things.
