Extreme Makeover Tucson

The ABC TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Tucson! I’m told they’ve picked the family, but haven’t told them yet. The team is being led by John Wesley Miller, a local builder. You can volunteer to help, over at the Extreme Makeover Tucson web site – looks like they’re looking for help on January 27th through February 4th.

If you don’t want to volunteer, there’s also a spectator area that you can watch the crew and the house progress, open from 8am to 8pm. I wonder where the house is going to be…

I love helping people. I am a general contractor who is giving away a kitchen for charity in the begining of April. We have a commercial for this 72 hour remodel event that is running on Fox11 for 2 months. We are receiving nominations for a needy group or person for 6 weeks then the public can vote for their favorite nomination the last 2 weeks. This is right in line with what E.M.H.E. is doing… just a little smaller. At any rate we are trying to do our part to give back to the community. Check us out at blarneystonebuilt.com

This is awesome! They always pick a deserving family, and it is always amazing how fast the contractors and crews are able to finish the project to completion (and perfection – for the lucky family).

We had Extreme Makeover in our neighborhood in Kirkland, WA about a year and a half ago. It was absolutely fabulous. So many people in the neighborhood volunteered. The immediate neighbors all contributed in massive ways as the entire block became part of the set. Neighbors had all kinds of things happening in their yards from staging areas to lunch areas. The Extreme Makeover TV show did a great job restoring everyone’s yard.

It was definitely a “feel good” project.
