Tucson Oktoberfest and Other Entertainment This Weekend

October 3, 2008 | By Kelley Koehler | Filed Under Tucson Events

I can’t believe it’s October already, although the Tucson weather forecast tells me we’re headed into some beautiful cooler fall weather.

But what’s the start of October without Tucson Oktoberfest?

It started last night, but you can still go tonight through Sunday, over to Hi Corbett Field at Reid Park, just south of El Con Mall on Broadway.  And, if you go tonight, you can get in with a donation of 3 canned food items to the community food bank.  Otherwise, tickets are $3, kids under 12 are free.

We walked over to Oktobefest last night and had a blast.  Where else will you see a man in a kilt introduce a German band, followed by Flamenco dancers, line dancers, and the return of the polka band playing the ever-popular chickendance?  I’m told they’ll have over 400 performers under the tent over the next few days.

There are jumping castle type things for the kiddos, and excellent food and beer.  There’s several exhibitors as well – don’t miss the Stolen Recipe BBQ folks – the Chipotle BBQ was tasty.

And – it all goes to support the Optimist Club of Tucson and the Tucson Fraternal Order of Police.  Go take the family and have a blast.  Today, it runs Noon to 11pm, Saturday from 10am to 11pm, and Sunday from Noon to 6pm.
